Man sues woman for tagging him as an impotent person

A middle-aged woman identified as Hassana Yohanna has been hauled before an Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, for allegedly referring to a man as impotent.

On Thursday, the woman was accused of defamation, criminal intimidation, and three counts of malicious insult.

The offence violates sections 312, 371 and 376 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, according to the complainant’s attorney.

Sawuta said in a direct criminal complaint presented to the court that he was having a conversation with friends in the palace of the village chief of Fadan Kagoma when he learned that his brother had been taken into custody by the police.

He claimed that as soon as he arrived at the station, the defendant suddenly materialised and began verbally abusing him, calling him impotent and the father of no children.

He claimed that the defendant suddenly charged at him after insulting him.

She entered a not guilty plea after hearing the charge.

She then requested bail from the court, to which the defendant objected.

The defendant was granted bail by the sitting judge, George Gwani, in the amount of N30,000 and one surety, who had to be a district head under the court’s jurisdiction.

In order to give the complainant time to submit witnesses and make his case, Gwani postponed the hearing to June 19.
