Judge wishes suspect well after sentencing him to death

A judge who handed a death sentence to a suspect for killing his wife and his daughter shocked many after he told the suspect he wished him well. 

35-year-old Mbawona Tindana, a native of Kulpelga in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region who is also a fetish priest was found guilty for beheading his wife and their two-year-old daughter by the Bolgatanga High Court presided over by Justice Charles Ajei Wilson.

A seven-member jury unanimously found the self-styled spiritualist guilty of the offence of murder contrary to section 46 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (29).

According to the fact of the case, the fetish priest killed his daughter by beheading her and spilled her blood to his gods.

His wife upon seeing what her husband had done started screaming to attract people around but this got him angry and made him to kill her too.

At the court, Mbawona in defending himself told the jury that his daughter told him she was a witch and was initiated into the witchcraft by her mother.

On June 27, 2019, at about 4:30 pm, he used two medium axes to chop the heads of the two victims, killing them instantly following what he claimed was a confession to witchcraft by his daughter.

The report continued that 11-year-old son of the suspect who was the second witness at the trial told the court that his father chased him with the same axe but he was saved by some community members playing football.

Justice Wilson on handing out his judge told him he wished him well and prays God forgives him for his sins and further asked him to pray for presidential pardon.
