A pressure group called Democracy Hub organised the three-day demonstration, which attracted strong support from a number of prominent young people both on and off social media.
The protests, which were supposed to last from September 21 to September 23, 2023, were plagued by allegations of abuse by the Ghana Police Service and the unjustified detention of 49 protestors on the first day.
A number of celebrities tweeted in favour of the demonstrators while others expressed opposing opinions when asked to contribute their voices to the current demonstrations.
