Security officers in Brazil have reportedly apprehended a man suspected of hacking into footballer Neymar‘s bank accounts and stealing $40,000 from him.

The suspect worked at the bank where the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) footballer and his father kept their money, according to Brazilian police.

According to a police statement, the 20-year-old was arrested on February 9 “for scamming bank clients.”

The player’s identity was not revealed by the police in their statement, but the officer in charge revealed it was Brazilian footballer Neymar.

During an interview with the Brazilian TV show Brasil Urgente, he revealed how the suspect stole the money.

“What did this lad do?” said Fabio Pinheiro Lopes. “He got the password of his office colleague and stole small amounts of money from famous people with high net worth.”

He added, “These people didn’t notice. He made (a transfer) of 10,000 (reais) ($1,912.59), then another of 10,000, then 20,000, and then 50,0000 and the total came to 200,000.”
