You’ve certainly heard by now about Wizkid‘s cancellation of a concert in Ghana, which caused fury on social media.
The “Wizkid Live” event at the Accra Sports Stadium featured the Nigerian superstar as the main attraction.
But why might the musician have chosen to ignore the large crowds of people who had come to see him perform?

According to information acquired, Wizkid pledged to perform only if the stadium was completely filled as part of his contractual commitment to the event’s organizers.
But it seems he abruptly withdrew in the closing moments after the event’s attendance was improbably lower than anticipated.
I understand promoter had to fill the stadium before he performs but they couldn't get that done. He bounced quickly and fans were left to enjoy DJs and few local acts. No respect of fans charley. #WizkidLiveAccra https://t.co/pdURslSDJO

It’s not unexpected that this occurred because the event’s tickets were so expensive that attendees and fans, primarily Ghanaians experiencing a severe economic crisis, were unable to buy them.
Tickets for the event start at 250 GHC for general admission, 600 GHC for VIP, and 3000 GHC for Golden Circle. Fans, however, did not receive value for their money.
The event’s major promoter, entertainment journalist Olele Salvador, used Twitter to further explain the issue.
So although Wizkid had come to town for the sole purpose of this concert, word had gotten to him about the true situation on the ground. The one question that started going around was “if you were Wizkid, would you show up?”

It was at this very moment some of us knew, he wasn’t gonna show up. Some of us who stayed longer received intel that Wizkid’s ‘big surprises’ for the night were Chris Brown & Popcaan. We were looking forward to that greatly. But of course the former clause denied that.
