One of Africa’s major centers for entertainment is Ghana. Great stars that are continually putting Ghana on the map of the globe were born in Ghana.
Ghana is now a popular tourist destination, especially for American artists and celebrities. American celebrities and artists have traveled to Ghana for various reasons.
Below is a compiled list of some top American superstars who have visited the country

2006: Jay-z
Its no doubt that majority of hiphop lovers in Ghana grew up listening to songs from Jay-Z. In October of 2016, the rapper touched down in Ghana and headlined a show at the Accra International Conference Centre.

2009: Busta Rhymes
In 2009, Busta Rhymes touched down in Ghana for the ‘Busta Rhymes Live in Ghana Concert’ held at the AICC. He was astounded by the Ghanaians’ ability to follow along with his songs while he performed them. He said he had a good time and would come back.

2010:2019: Rick Ross
MMG boss Rick Ross happens to be one of few American stars who have visited Ghana more than once. He first touched down in Ghana in 2010 for the Rick Ross Live in Ghana concert after a stop in Nigeria.
In 2019, he again visited Ghana to perform at Mr Eazi’s Detty Rave concert.

2012 & 2019: Ludacris
Christopher Brian Bridges aka Ludacris is also one of the few American superstars who have visited the country on more than one occasion.
In the year 2012, kind courtesy Vodafone Ghana he was flown down to headline the Vodafone 020 Live Concert.
He returned seven (7) years later as part of the “Year of Return to visit some tourist attraction sites in the country.

2012: Keri Hilson
R&B songstress Keri Hilson arrived in Ghana for the much-anticipated ‘Stand Up GH’ concert which came off at the Dome of the Accra International Conference. During her visit Azonto was the dance of the moment and she showed her dance skills.

2012: Bow Wow
Just like Keri Hilson, Bow Wow was also the headline artiste for the Stand Up GH’ concert and served patrons with some hit songs.

2013: Chris Brown
Thanks to now defunct rLG, the ‘With You’ singer came to Ghana for some few hours and perfumed in front of a charged crowd at the independence square. He incurred the wreath of Ghanaians after called out Wizkid to perform Azonto.

2019: Cardi B
Cardi B was in Ghana for the Livespot X Festival at the Accra Sports Stadium. A lot of artists billed to perform on the night couldn’t perform due to unexplained reasons. Let’s not forget the controversial meet and greet saga.

2022: Chance the Rapper
Chance the Rapper only came to Ghana in 2022 after decided to trace back his ancestral routes.
He has so far been to the motherland on two occasions and has revealed that he and Vic Mensa would be hosting a concert in Ghana next year.

2022: Kendrick Lamar
Rapper Kendrick Lamar was in the country few weeks ago to host an album listening party and also shoot for his mini-documentary produced by Spotify.
Though he wasn’t here to perform, he had fan as he bonded with some citizens.
We believe he might be back soon to headline a concert for his fans.
