Big Akwes, a Kumawood actor, wept on live television while stating that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had broken pledges made to Kumawood actors who supported him during his campaign.
Big Akwes expressed his disappointment and disclosed that he had personally made financial contributions to the NPP party’s campaign.
Big Akwes said during his emotional interview with TV XYZ over the weekend, “All of us are aware that we voted for our president Nana Akufo-Addo for him to come and help us (amid tears) … In 2016, we provided for them in Kumasi, and myself, Big Akwes, gave out my money to support the NPP”.

“So, if he can give us sweet words and, at the end of the day, he will do this to us, our president Nana Akufo-Addo, what we are telling him is that the same hands we used to vote for him, the same hands will decide this time.”
The actor’s passionate outburst has raised awareness of the allegedly broken promises President Akufo-Addo allegedly made to the Kumawood actors.
Approaching the general elections in 2024, a few Kumawood actors have publicly endorsed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The Kumawood members, who identify as “Artists for the NDC,” have demonstrated tenacity and resolve to back John Dramani Mahama and the NDC in their attempt to save Ghana.
