Actor Kwadwo Nkansah LilWin claims that although Asante people will borrow money for your funeral, they won’t care if you get sick.
On the AfroJoint show, the actor discussed Asantes’ preference for the dead above the living.
According to Kwaku Nkansah LilWin, Asante people will go to great lengths to borrow money for your burial, but they won’t object if you become ill and require money for treatment.

He related a tale of a sick man who had to pretend to be dead in order to convince his family to pay for his medical bills after they had abandoned him.
According to Lilwin, the patient requested that his family be notified by phone that he had passed away while receiving treatment.
The family sent money to settle his hospital costs when the hospital did just that so they could receive his body for a burial.

The hospital staff informed the family that it was a joke after they had paid the expenses.
