Afriyie Barnieh, a player for the Black Stars and Hearts of Oak, is the subject of a significant wager by Ghanaian gospel musician and pastor, Sonnie Badu.

The midfielder and a new group of players, which he should lead, are in charge of the future of the nation’s football, according to the US-based pastor.

His remarks follow Ghana’s 2-0 defeat of Uruguay, a vengeful foe, in the final Group H match of the ongoing Qatar 2022 Fifa World Cup.

Sonnie Badu demanded on Instagram that the senior national team be disbanded and a new team be formed.

The musician cum pastor explained his justification for the demand by claiming that the majority of the current Black Star players wouldn’t want to compete for the squad in African Cup of Nations qualifications.

He claimed that the African football infrastructure is to blame for this.

Therefore, his recommendation is that the nation create a new Black Stars team around Afriyie Barnieh, who might one day guide them to a trophy.
