Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, a renowned broadcaster and gatekeeper for the creative industry fondly known as Abeiku Santana, has encouraged the country to pay tribute to TiC, a legendary musician from Ghana.

Every time the nation holds Head of State Awards, he contends, the renowned rapper must receive a national honor from the state.

According to Abeiku Santana, TiC’s career gave parents more opportunities to support their kids’ singing.

The talented broadcaster added that TiC began singing at an early age and was highlighted by Azigiza in 1995 when he hosted the musician on his Drive Time show on Okay FM.

He continued by saying that because music was viewed as something for terrible people at the time, it was difficult to enable one’s child to pursue it to that degree.

Parents began encouraging their kids to sing, knowing they might achieve success like TiC without using drugs or being around bad influences, as a result of TiC’s success without these factors.

According to Abeiku Santana, this has a good impact on the creative sector and shouldn’t be ignored because it gave rise to the modern reality talent shows.

He established his talent as a singer, songwriter, and musician in his teens while attending Datus Complex School and Labone Secondary School, both in Accra. He later founded a trio known as the Nutty Strangers.

TiC later appeared on Azigiza’s Woye Bia, a song that became quite popular in Ghana. Later, he worked on Masan Aba with Slim Buster.

These partnerships aided TiC in making a name for himself in the field, and in June 1999, his debut album, “Philomena,” was released.

In support of the 2006 FIFA World Cup, Puma Africa issued a compilation CD with some of the biggest artists in the world. Artists on the album included TiC, Akon, John Legend, Baaba Maal, and The Roots.

MTV Base, Akon, and Gil Green traveled to Ghana in August 2006 to begin filming a music video for Akon and TiC. From his Accra Connection album, they recorded the music video for his popular song, “Kangaroo.”

TiC became the first African artist to have a song on the MTV BASE chart in May 2007.
